David Ramsay has now started in post as the RCCC’s Performance Development Coach, providing cover whilst Barbara McFarlane is on maternity leave. David brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the role through his own playing and team coaching experience at national and international levels, as well as a high level of understanding of the RCCC Academy structure due to his recent involvement as an RCCC Academy Technical Coach.
The Performance Development Coach role focusses on supporting selected RCCC Academy athletes along with their coaches. All Academy athletes will be provided with regular technical sessions in addition to training sessions to which all team members are invited. David will be supporting junior development more widely through the expansion of workshops for parents, coaches & players at U17 Slam events and through the provision of specific training at a number junior clubs across the country.
This year RCCC is investing significantly in winners of U21 Slam events with entries for a variety of EJCT and WCT events up for grabs. David will not only be managing arrangements for these teams but will also be responsible for the training programme for Scotland’s representative Junior Women’s and Junior Men’s teams at the forthcoming World Junior B Championship and World Junior Championship.
